In a recent discussion on X (formerly Twitter), David Schwartz, Ripple CTO and architect of XRP Ledger, addressed speculations about his involvement with Bitcoin's creator, Satoshi Nakamoto.
A new HBO documentary titled "Money Electric: The Bitcoin Mystery" argues that Satoshi Nakamoto is likely Canadian developer Peter Todd. The 100-minute video features interviews with early Bitcoin figures like Adam Back, Roger Ver, Samson Mow, and Peter Todd, released Tuesday.
In response to a question about his omission from the documentary, Schwartz stated, "Not really, I didn't get involved until mid-2011." He remarked that while he was rumored to be Satoshi in 2020, he asserted that he was not, although he might have been part of a group that created Bitcoin. Schwartz discovered Bitcoin only in 2011.
Satoshi remains unknown
The Bitcoin whitepaper was released in 2008, with the network launching in 2009. Speculation over Satoshi Nakamoto's identity continues, with numerous theories proposing various candidates over the years.
Although Satoshi Nakamoto hasn’t been heard from since 2011, they are still significant, with wallets containing about one million Bitcoin, valued over $62.4 billion today.
Cullen Hoback, the documentary's creator, theorized Peter Todd as Satoshi based on circumstantial evidence, which Todd has denied.
