Volkswagen's Scout Motors Unveils Concept Electric SUV and Truck
(Reuters) – Volkswagen (ETR: VOWG_p)'s Scout Motors unit on Thursday unveiled its concept electric SUV and truck, announcing plans for extended-range versions that will include a small gasoline engine.
VW is constructing a $2 billion factory in South Carolina, with production of the new vehicles expected to start in 2027. The full electric vehicle (EV) versions will offer up to 350 miles of range on a single charge, while the extended-range version will reach 500 miles. "It makes the platform future proof," stated Scout CEO Scott Keogh.
