U.S. Transportation Secretary on Boeing Workers' Strike
Date: Thursday
Location: Washington
U.S. Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg emphasized the need for a resolution to a four-week strike involving 33,000 Boeing workers who are negotiating a new contract with the company.
> "The solution is going to be one that supports workers, that's compatible with the business succeeding," Buttigieg stated during a press briefing at the department's headquarters. He further expressed optimism that a mutually beneficial deal could be reached.
When asked about the potential impacts of the labor stoppage on the broader airplane supply chain, Buttigieg refrained from providing a specific timeline but noted that with "each passing day it becomes more important… for them to come to terms."
