SEC Announces New Appointments

NEW YORK/WASHINGTON (Reuters) – The U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) announced new division directors as Chairman Paul Atkins builds his leadership team.

The SEC appointed Jamie Selway to lead the Trading and Markets division, effective June 17. Brian Daly, a lawyer from Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld in New York, will run the Investment Management division.

Kurt Hohl, founder of a consulting firm dealing with auditing, compliance, and initial public offerings, has been named Chief Accountant, effective July 7.

Chairman Atkins, nominated by Republican President Donald Trump, began his tenure in April and is expected to lead a deregulatory movement within the agency.

Selway is a seasoned expert in market structure and investment technology. Reports had previously noted his selection for this role. Daly, while at Akin, advised private equity, hedge fund, and venture capital managers, and he is scheduled to join the SEC on July 8.
