Investigation Launched After Delta Air Lines Incident

WASHINGTON (Reuters) – The U.S. workplace safety agency announced it is opening an investigation after two workers were killed and one seriously injured at a Delta Air Lines (NYSE:DAL) aircraft maintenance facility at the Atlanta airport on Tuesday.
Delta reported that the incident occurred shortly after 5 a.m. EDT at a facility in Delta’s technical operations center next to the Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport.
The injured worker is currently under medical care following the accident, which involved wheel components being disassembled for maintenance and were not attached to an airplane, according to Delta.
The U.S. Occupational Safety and Health Administration confirmed to Reuters that it is initiating an investigation. The Federal Aviation Administration stated it is in contact with Delta regarding the incident.
Delta expressed its sorrow, stating, “This news is heartbreaking for all of us.” They are collaborating with local authorities and conducting a full investigation to determine the cause of the accident. However, details about the cause of the accident have not yet been released.
