UAW Reaches Tentative Agreement with Ford Tool and Die Unit

(Reuters) – The United Auto Workers (UAW) union announced on Wednesday that its members representing Ford’s tool and die unit at the River Rouge Complex have reached a tentative agreement with the company, just one day before a planned strike deadline.

Ford’s Rouge Complex, located in Dearborn, Michigan, employs about 6,000 people, with over 500 workers in the tool and die unit, according to a union official.

Union members will review the details of the agreement and hold a ratification vote in the coming days, as stated by the union.

“If ratified, the agreement will set a new standard for the skilled trades at Ford,” the union added.

Last week, the union indicated that they would go on strike starting September 26 if local contract issues were not addressed, highlighting that key points in negotiations included job security, wage parity, and work rules.
