U.K. Stocks Post Gains

Investing.com – U.K. stocks rose after the close on Monday, driven by gains in the Mining, Mobile Telecommunications, and Industrial Metals & Mining sectors.

At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 rose 0.55%.

The top performers on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were:
Melrose Industries PLC (LON:MRON): +7.58% (up 37.10 points to 526.60)
DCC plc (LON:DCC): +3.61% (up 195.00 points to 5,595.00)
Smurfit WestRock PLC (LON:SWR): +3.00% (up 121.00 points to 4,149.00)

Worst Performers

The worst performers included:
B&M European Value Retail SA (LON:BMEB): -8.06% (down 30.50 points to 347.90)
Vistry Group PLC (LON:VTYV): -5.58% (down 39.00 points to 660.00)
ConvaTec Group PLC (LON:CTEC): -3.70% (down 9.20 points to 239.60)

Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the London Stock Exchange by 966 to 839, with 649 ending unchanged.

Shares in B&M European Value Retail fell to 52-week lows, down 8.06%. Vistry Group also saw a 52-week low. In contrast, Smurfit WestRock reached a 52-week high, gaining 3.00%.

Commodity Prices

  • Gold Futures for December delivery rose 1.68% (up 43.10 to $2,613.20 a troy ounce).
  • Crude Oil for January delivery increased 2.82% (up 1.89 to $68.81 a barrel).
  • Brent Oil for January rose 2.74% (up 1.95 to $72.99 a barrel).

Currency Exchange Rates

  • GBP/USD was unchanged at 1.27.
  • EUR/GBP remained stable at 0.84.
  • The US Dollar Index Futures decreased 0.34% to 106.25.
