Stellantis Rejoins ACEA
MILAN (Reuters) – Stellantis (NYSE:STLA) announced on Friday its intention to rejoin the European auto lobby ACEA (BIT:ACE), which it had departed at the beginning of 2023. This move may indicate a more cautious approach towards the company's electrification initiatives.
"Stellantis, Europe's second largest carmaker, confirms that it intends to apply for membership of ACEA," the group stated.
ACEA, the European Automobile Manufacturers Association, has been the primary lobbying organization for the industry since its establishment in 1991, representing car, truck, van, and bus manufacturers across Europe.
Previously, Stellantis exited the group following a decision made by its former CEO, Carlos Tavares, who resigned earlier this week. Tavares had recently criticized ACEA’s proposal to postpone European Union penalties for automakers failing to achieve 2025's intermediate carbon reduction goals.
