Stellantis Investment in Argentina
SAO PAULO (Reuters) – Automaker Stellantis (NYSE:STLA) plans to invest $385 million in its plant in Cordoba, Argentina from 2025 to 2030. This investment is part of a larger €5.6 billion ($6.22 billion) investment in South America during the same period.
Emanuele Cappellano, Stellantis’ South America head, stated that these funds will be allocated for building a new line of vehicles and an engine, though specifics were not disclosed.
In an online press conference, he also discussed Stellantis’ upcoming hybrid-flex vehicles set to launch in Brazil, with funds from the South America plan supporting these efforts. These vehicles can operate on 100% ethanol or gasoline along with batteries.
Additionally, General Motors (NYSE:GM) recently announced it would produce its first hybrid-flex vehicle in Brazil, reflecting a growing trend among automakers to explore this technology in the country due to its strong biofuel industry.
