Russia Stock Market Overview

Investing.com – Russia stocks were lower after the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Mining, Oil & Gas, and Telecoms sectors led shares lower.

At the close in Moscow, the MOEX Russia lost 1.05%.

Best Performers

  • Aeroflot (MCX:AFLT): rose 4.05% or 1.96 points to trade at 50.34 at the close.
  • Yandex NV (MCX:YDEX): added 1.24% or 47.50 points to end at 3,891.50.
  • Sberbank Rossii PAO (MCX:SBER): was up 0.74% or 1.92 points to 262.42 in late trade.

Worst Performers

  • AFK Sistema (MCX:AFKS): fell 6.27% or 1.07 points to trade at 16.05 at the close.
  • Ozon Holdings PLC (MCX:OZONDR): declined 3.68% or 121.50 points to end at 3,183.00.
  • FGK Rusgidro PAO (MCX:HYDR): down 3.32% or 0.02 points to 0.54.

Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Moscow Stock Exchange by 181 to 64, with 8 ending unchanged.

Shares in FGK Rusgidro PAO (MCX:HYDR) fell to 3-year lows, down 3.32% or 0.02 to 0.54.

Market Indicators

  • The Russian VIX, which measures the implied volatility of MOEX Russia options, was down 2.14% to 34.75.
  • Gold Futures for December delivery were down 0.55% or 14.00 to $2,538.90 a troy ounce.
  • In commodities trading, Crude Oil for delivery in October fell 1.52% or 1.15 to hit $74.38 a barrel, while the November Brent Oil contract fell 0.01% or 0.01 to trade at $77.41 a barrel.

Currency Exchange Rates

  • USD/RUB was down 0.01% to 91.48.
  • EUR/RUB unchanged at 101.74.
  • The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.51% at 100.97.
