Netflix's Streaming Success Amid Technical Challenges
Netflix closed higher on Monday, celebrating the live-streaming boxing match between YouTube star Jake Paul and former heavyweight champion Mike Tyson as a "huge success" despite facing technical issues.
The fight peaked at 65 million viewers, but the high user count led to problems, with many experiencing buffering, frozen screens, and connection issues.
Netflix CTO Elizabeth Stone addressed these challenges in a memo, acknowledging the difficulties encountered at such an "unprecedented scale."
> "This unprecedented scale created many technical challenges, which the launch team tackled brilliantly by prioritizing stability of the stream for the majority of viewers," she stated.
Despite the fight not fully meeting expectations, with Paul, 31, winning against Tyson, 58, via unanimous decision, Stone still hailed the event as successful.
> "We don’t want to dismiss the poor experience of some members and know we have room for improvement, but still consider this event a huge success," she said.
Netflix Inc (NASDAQ:NFLX) saw shares rise by over 2% on Monday.
