Netflix Outage During Boxing Match
(Reuters) – Streaming platform Netflix (NASDAQ:NFLX) experienced an outage for thousands of users in the United States late on Friday. This disruption was reported by the outage tracking website Downdetector.com, coinciding with a highly anticipated boxing match between Mike Tyson and Jake Paul.
By 10:35 p.m. ET (0335 GMT Saturday), Downdetector noted that 85,021 users reported problems. The outage primarily affected major metropolitan areas, including New York, Seattle, and Los Angeles, while there were also scattered reports from other regions.
Netflix had no immediate comment when approached by Reuters for a statement. The platform has a history of outages during live or significant events, often due to spikes in user traffic.
For example, in April last year, Netflix faced a brief disruption during a live stream of the dating reality show Love is Blind, which led to complaints from numerous users.
