Nearly $500 Million Bitcoin Withdrawal Stuns Major U.S. Exchange

According to data provided by Whale Alert, leading U.S. crypto exchange Coinbase (NASDAQ:COIN) witnessed the withdrawal of nearly half a billion dollars worth of Bitcoin yesterday. A total of 7,999 BTC, or roughly $472.8 million, left the exchange’s cold wallet in several transactions to an address with the code “13F8P8.” This massive amount of flagship crypto was later distributed to 50 unidentified addresses in portions of 157 BTC, or $9.27 million each. The reasons behind this activity remain unclear, with speculation that it could be linked to Bitcoin ETF issuers like BlackRock (NYSE:BLK), who are accumulating crypto despite recent market volatility.

Ripple Burns Stablecoin Tokens

As reported by @RLUSD_TRACKER, a handle tracking Ripple’s stablecoin RLUSD, 185 RLUSD tokens were burned at the RLUSD Treasury. The tokens were destroyed by returning them to the issuer account. Earlier in the month, U.Today noted that Ripple began testing its stablecoin in private beta, with the minting process starting about a week ago. The new product is currently accessible only to select enterprise partners, but will eventually be available to the general public after the beta phase.
