Meta's Facebook and Instagram Outage
According to outage tracking website Downdetector.com, Meta's Facebook and Instagram experienced issues for thousands of users across the United States on Wednesday.
- Reported Incidents:
- Over 27,000 incidents for Facebook
- Over 28,000 incidents for Instagram
The outage began around 12:50 p.m. ET. Additionally, WhatsApp was also down for more than 1,000 users. Downdetector's data is based on user-submitted reports, so the total number of affected users may vary.
Meta acknowledged the technical issues affecting users' access to its apps and stated, "We're working to get things back to normal as quickly as possible and apologize for any inconvenience," via a post on social media platform X.
Some users reported encountering an error message stating, "something went wrong," while they await resolution from Meta.
Earlier this year, a similar technical issue caused outages that affected hundreds of thousands of Facebook and Instagram users globally for more than two hours. These platforms also faced an outage in October, which was largely resolved within an hour.
