China to Enhance Tax Refund Policies for Foreign Tourists
BEIJING (Reuters) – China announced on Sunday its plan to improve tax refund policies for foreign tourists, aiming to stimulate inbound consumption and boost the economy as domestic demand remains sluggish.
The initiative includes promoting the expansion of tax refund stores in various locations, such as shopping districts, scenic spots, airports, and hotels, as stated in a joint announcement by the commerce ministry and other departments.
Additionally, the minimum refund threshold for overseas travelers at the same tax refund shop will decrease from 500 yuan ($68.68) to 200 yuan ($27.45) per day, according to the statement.
