Audi to Cut Jobs Amid Profit Decline
BERLIN (Reuters) – German automaker Audi is planning job cuts outside production as it looks to streamline its workforce, potentially affecting thousands of positions,
according to Manager Magazin.
The focus will be on indirect roles, particularly in development, with over 2,000 jobs at risk. The company aims to reduce its workforce by about 15%, impacting approximately 4,500 indirect jobs in Germany.
Audi, a subsidiary of the struggling Volkswagen Group, confirmed ongoing negotiations with workers' representatives but refrained from detailing the exact number of jobs affected.
The announcement follows a significant decline in profit for Audi in the third quarter, exacerbated by high costs related to the anticipated closure of its Brussels plant.
