Apple Plans Satellite Connections for Apple Watch
(Reuters) – Apple (NASDAQ:AAPL) plans to introduce satellite connections in its smartwatch by 2025, as it also enhances work on a blood-pressure monitoring feature, according to Bloomberg News reports.
Features Overview
The satellite function is expected to debut in the upcoming version of the Apple Watch Ultra, enabling users to send messages without needing cellular or internet connections. Apple began offering satellite communication through its iPhones in 2022.
Investment in Satellite Services
In November, Apple invested $1.5 billion in satellite provider Globalstar (NYSE:GSAT) to support the growth of iPhone communication services.
Health Features
Additionally, a new medical feature allowing users to track blood pressure may launch in 2025. Apple has been focusing on enhancing health-related capabilities in its products.
In September, they introduced a new smartwatch capable of detecting long-term health conditions like sleep apnea and responding to emergencies.
Apple has yet to respond to a Reuters request for comment.
