Billy Markus, known as Shibetoshi Nakamoto, co-creator of Dogecoin, has named who he believes is the most likely Satoshi Nakamoto, the creator of Bitcoin. In a comment on his tweet, he indicated that Peter Todd, mentioned in the HBO documentary "Money Electric: The Bitcoin Mystery," is not Satoshi.
Markus Reveals "Satoshi" Who Passed Away in 2014
In response to a DOGE fan, Markus stated: "Hal Finney and friends." Hal Finney, a notable software engineer, was the first recipient of a Bitcoin transaction from Satoshi's wallet but sadly passed away in 2014 due to ALS complications. Markus clarified, regarding Peter Todd, that while he's an early core developer, he is not the creator of Bitcoin.
Previously, Markus speculated on Twitter whether Bitcoin prices might crash following the documentary's revelations about Satoshi.
Peter Todd Slams Satoshi Documentary Makers
Peter Todd, who has repeatedly denied being Satoshi, criticized the documentary and its director Cullen Hoback for endangering his life with what he deemed "irresponsible" filmmaking. Many in the Bitcoin community have echoed this sentiment, suggesting the documentary lacked substantial evidence to support the claim that Todd is Satoshi.
Before the film's release, Len Sassaman, a cryptographer who died by suicide in 2011, was the top predicted candidate on the prediction platform Polymarket, shortly after Satoshi's withdrawal from BTC was announced.
