UAW Members Authorize Strike at Stellantis
(Reuters) – The United Auto Workers union announced on Friday that members at Stellantis (NYSE:STLA)’s Los Angeles parts distribution center voted to authorize a strike if the carmaker does not address grievances regarding U.S. investments.
Stellantis has not yet responded to requests for comment.
This vote marks the beginning of expected multiple votes as the union attempts to pressure Stellantis.
UAW President Shawn Fain accused Stellantis last month of breaking its promises and mentioned that several local union chapters are preparing for potential strikes. In a recent letter, Fain urged workers to support the strike authorization.
The union’s grievances focus on the company’s product and investment commitments made during last autumn’s contract negotiations, which Stellantis denies failing to meet.
