Investigation into Ford SUVs

(Reuters) – A U.S. auto safety regulator announced on Friday that it is investigating 368,309 Ford (NYSE:F) crossover SUVs concerning loss of braking due to rear brake hose failure.

The preliminary evaluation includes some Ford Edge crossovers from the 2015-2017 model years, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA).

Ford has not provided an immediate response to a Reuters request for comment.

Complaints indicate that the loss of braking ability can occur without prior warning, leading to increased stopping distances, as reported by the NHTSA.

In 2020, Ford recalled 488,000 Ford Edge and Lincoln MKX vehicles in the U.S. because of brake hose failures.
