Australia Stock Market Update

Investing.com – Australia stocks were higher after the close on Thursday, led by gains in the A-REITs, Telecoms Services, and Industrials sectors.

At the close in Sydney, the S&P/ASX 200 added 0.09%.

  • Mesoblast Ltd (ASX:MSB): +8.84% or +0.11 points to trade at 1.36
  • Fletcher Building Ltd (ASX:FBU): +3.19% or +0.09 points to end at 2.91
  • Monadelphous Group Ltd (ASX:MND): +3.05% or +0.39 points to 13.18

Worst Performers

  • Appen Ltd (ASX:APX): -7.87% or -0.17 points to trade at 1.99
  • EML Payments Ltd (ASX:EML): -4.76% or -0.03 points to end at 0.60
  • ARB Corporation Ltd (ASX:ARB): -4.74% or -2.21 points to 44.40

Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Sydney Stock Exchange by 592 to 513, with 432 ending unchanged.

Highlights

  • Shares in Mesoblast Ltd (ASX:MSB) rose to 52-week highs; gaining 8.84% or +0.11 to trade at 1.36.
  • Shares in EML Payments Ltd (ASX:EML) fell to 52-week lows; down 4.76% or -0.03 to trade at 0.60.

The S&P/ASX 200 VIX, which measures implied volatility, was down 1.93% to 11.87.
