Boeing’s 737 Deliveries in September

According to analysts at Bank of America, Boeing’s (NYSE:BA) deliveries of 737 jets remained “solid” in September despite an ongoing strike affecting workers in the US Pacific Northwest.

Delivery Statistics

Boeing delivered around 28 planes during September, slightly down from 32 in August. Analysts noted that 70% of the monthly deliveries occurred before the strike began.

Third-Quarter Performance

Third-quarter deliveries were strong, with approximately 92 jets delivered, an increase from 70 in the previous quarters. However, compared to the same periods in 2023 and 2022, deliveries were down by 20% and 17%, respectively.

Challenges Ahead

The future delivery performance will depend heavily on the duration of the current strike, which is now entering its third week. Workers have rejected two pay proposals from Boeing, leading to prolonged labor action which could impact the company’s finances and production.

Boeing CFO Brian West expressed concerns that the strike might affect the supply chain. The company has made a final offer, proposing a 30% pay increase over four years and enhanced retirement benefits, which was dismissed by the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers District 751. A mediator has been brought in to assist in resolving the situation.

Financial Moves

Additionally, Boeing is considering a stock sale worth at least $10 billion to bolster funding, according to Bloomberg.
