Ripple Cofounder’s Alleged 30 Million XRP Coinbase Move Worries XRP Community
In an unexpected turn of events on September 20, Chris Larsen, one of the cofounders of Ripple, activated his wallet for the first time in 11 years, transferring 50 million XRP worth over $29 million to an unknown wallet. Monitoring of Larsen’s funds revealed that parts of this XRP were sent to Binance, Bittrex, and Coinbase, with 30 million XRP sent to Coinbase. This raised concerns within the XRP community regarding Larsen’s intentions, suggesting a potential sell-off or use in Ripple’s On-Demand Liquidity (ODL) service. As of now, Larsen has not commented on these transactions.
Another Satoshi-Era Wallet Gets Activated
Recently, there has been a notable increase in the activation of ancient Bitcoin wallets. On September 25, a wallet containing 28 BTC (approximately $1.8 million) that had been dormant for over 13 years became active. A few days prior, another early Bitcoin address with 24 BTC was also reactivated, and some of the earliest mined Bitcoins were transferred after 15 years of inactivity. However, on-chain analysis suggests that these coins are not linked to Bitcoin’s creator, Satoshi Nakamoto. The Bitcoin community is speculating about this sudden revival, theorizing potential hacks or users rediscovering their passwords.
