Dogecoin Joins the Indianapolis 500
Dogecoin’s iconic shiba inu meme logo will prominently feature on driver Devlin DeFrancesco’s IndyCar in the Indianapolis 500 this May.
Collaboration Details
A partnership involving the House of Doge, Dogecoin Foundation, and Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing, co-owned by comedian David Letterman, provides Dogecoin fans the chance to select from three designs for the #30 Honda racecar. DeFrancesco, who invested in Dogecoin in 2020, expressed enthusiasm about being an ambassador for the cryptocurrency, calling it his “favorite crypto.”
Voting Campaign
Until March 25, users on X (formerly Twitter) can vote for their preferred design at indycar.dogecoin.com. The winning design will adorn both the race car and DeFrancesco’s helmet, with official results announced on March 26.
Fundraising Initiative
In parallel with the voting, a Dogecoin fundraising campaign supports the Riley Children’s Foundation, a prominent U.S. neonatology program. The campaign will launch alongside the design voting, offering an opportunity for community engagement.
A House of Doge spokesperson remarked on the significance of Dogecoin’s presence at the race, reinforcing the mission to enhance real-world adoption of the cryptocurrency.
Dogecoin’s Racing History
Dogecoin has a notable history in racing, having sponsored various NASCAR drivers since its inception. The community previously raised $55,000 in 2014 to sponsor racer Josh Wise, and more recently, they supported Stefan Parsons in 2021.
Other cryptocurrencies have also made strides in racing, with Polkadot and Coinbase establishing partnerships within the sport.
The House of Doge aims to further Dogecoin’s visibility in different leagues, promoting it as an everyday currency. Currently, Dogecoin (DOGE) has seen a 5% increase today but has faced a 32% decline in value over the past month amid a broader crypto downturn.
