Copper Appoints Tammy Weinrib as Chief Compliance Officer

Crypto custody firm Copper has hired Tammy Weinrib as its new Chief Compliance Officer and Bank Secrecy Act (BSA) Officer for the Americas, as announced in a press release on Monday.

Weinrib will spearhead the firm’s licensing initiative in the U.S. and will be part of Copper’s executive team based in New York.

Her hiring is part of Copper’s effort to expand within the U.S. market, following the appointment of Amar Kuchinad as global CEO in October of the previous year.

Prior to joining Copper, Weinrib served as Chief Compliance Officer and BSA Officer at Binance.US, and previously worked at crypto exchange Gemini. She has a background in traditional finance with experience at Wall Street bank Citi, The Royal Bank of Scotland, and Standard Chartered.

Amar Kuchinad, Global CEO of Copper, remarked, “Her appointment marks an important step forward as we accelerate our growth strategy and expand our offering to traditional finance.”

In December, Copper announced it had withdrawn its application to register with the U.K.’s financial services regulator, part of a strategic shift to concentrate on markets including the U.S., Europe, and the Middle East.
