Japan Stock Market Update

Investing.com – Japan stocks were lower after the close on Monday, as losses in the Shipbuilding, Machinery, and Electrical/Machinery sectors led shares lower.

At the close in Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 lost 0.72%.

Best Performers

The best performers of the session on the Nikkei 225 were:
Mercari Inc (TYO:4385): rose 5.14% (122.00 points) to trade at 2,496.00.
Konami Corp. (TYO:9766): added 2.78% (365.00 points) to end at 13,490.00.
Asahi Group Holdings, Ltd. (TYO:2502): up 2.67% (145.00 points) to 5,585.00 in late trade.

Worst Performers

The worst performers of the session were:
Lasertec Corp (TYO:6920): fell 4.80% (1,120.00 points) to trade at 22,195.00.
Isuzu Motors, Ltd. (TYO:7202): declined 3.78% (80.50 points) to end at 2,050.50.
Kawasaki Kisen Kaisha, Ltd. (TYO:9107): down 3.38% (68.00 points) to 1,942.50.

Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Tokyo Stock Exchange by 2376 to 1323, with 176 ending unchanged.

Shares in Konami Corp. (TYO:9766) rose to all-time highs, gaining 2.78% (365.00) to 13,490.00.

The Nikkei Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was down 0.07% to 29.07.

Commodity Trends

  • Crude oil for October delivery was up 1.06% (0.72) to $68.39 a barrel.
  • Brent oil for delivery in November rose 1.00% (0.71) to hit $71.77 a barrel.
  • December Gold Futures contract fell 0.38% (9.50) to trade at $2,515.10 a troy ounce.

Currency Movements

  • USD/JPY was up 0.47% to 142.94.
  • EUR/JPY rose 0.30% to 158.19.
  • The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.21% at 101.36.
