Unknown Bitcoin Whale Emerges
As reported by major crypto transaction monitoring service Whale Alert, an unknown Bitcoin whale, dormant for 11.5 years since 2013, has suddenly become active.
The whale started transferring 25,015 BTC from the old address “1MVvvtH” to the new address “bc1qvfz.”
Purchased nearly 11.5 years ago for $686, this cryptocurrency is now valued at $1.59 million, showing a staggering 231,778% profit. This breaks down to an annual return of 20,154.6% since 2013.
The reason for this sudden activity remains unknown. It could be due to someone recalling their seed phrase or the motivation to transfer funds to a new standard wallet. The bc1 addresses are preferred over the 1 addresses due to improved error correction and smaller transaction sizes, making them more future-proof.
It’s possible that the investor decided to cash out after holding the Bitcoin for so long, which is considered a bearish event for BTC. While a 231,778% profit is impressive, it may indicate potential negative implications for Bitcoin’s price.
Bitcoin is currently trading at around $63,000 per BTC. As summer ends, it will be intriguing to observe the fate of the leading cryptocurrency in the upcoming months.
