(Reuters) – Apple (NASDAQ:AAPL) CEO Tim Cook is set to meet with Donald Trump tonight at the president-elect's Mar-a-Lago resort in Florida, according to a source familiar with the situation.

Since Trump's election victory in November, business leaders have sought to establish a good relationship with him.

Both Meta Platforms (NASDAQ:META) and Amazon (NASDAQ:AMZN) have donated $1 million each to Trump's inaugural fund. Bank of America, the second-largest lender in the U.S., is also planning to contribute to his inaugural committee but is yet to finalize the amount.

Trump's inauguration is scheduled for January. In October, while campaigning for the presidency, he mentioned receiving a call from Cook regarding concerns over financial penalties imposed on Apple by the European Union.

European regulators have been investigating major technology companies to limit their influence and to create fair competition with smaller companies. Additionally, a U.S. Justice Department case alleges that Apple is unlawfully dominating the smartphone market.

Neither Trump's team nor Apple responded immediately to a request for comment. The meeting between Trump and Cook was initially reported by the New York Times.
