NVIDIA Expands Research Team in China

NVIDIA Corporation (NASDAQ:NVDA) has added hundreds of employees in China this year, focusing on enhancing its research and developing AI-based autonomous driving technologies, according to Bloomberg.

The company has hired around 200 personnel in Beijing to bolster its self-driving research team. Additionally, NVIDIA has expanded its after-sales service and networking software teams in the region.

This strategy coincides with China's growing interest in autonomous driving, where companies like Baidu Inc (NASDAQ:BIDU) are offering robotaxi services through their Apollo Go initiative.

Moreover, Pony AI, another robotaxi firm, has recently gone public on Nasdaq with a valuation exceeding $5 billion.

China appears to be advancing faster than the U.S. in the robotaxi sector this year, thanks to more favorable regulatory environments and intense competition among domestic companies.

U.S. EV manufacturer Tesla Inc (NASDAQ:TSLA) has also introduced its own robotaxi and updated its full self-driving software to provide greater autonomy.
