Turkey's Data Protection Board Fines Twitch
Turkey's Personal Data Protection Board (KVKK) has fined Amazon.com's gaming platform Twitch 2 million lira ($58,000) due to a data breach, as reported by Anadolu Agency on Saturday.
KVKK initiated an investigation following a significant 125 GB data leak. The investigation revealed that Twitch had not implemented adequate security measures prior to the breach and had only addressed the situation after it occurred. The Board also noted that Twitch's risk and threat assessments were lacking.
The data breach affected 35,274 individuals in Turkey. As a result of these findings, KVKK imposed a 1.75 million lira fine for the inadequate security measures and an additional 250,000 lira fine for failing to report the breach.
