JPMorgan Chase CEO Jamie Dimon Not Joining Trump Administration

By Kanishka Singh
WASHINGTON (Reuters) – JPMorgan Chase CEO Jamie Dimon will not be invited to be part of Donald Trump's administration, the U.S. president-elect announced on social media this Thursday.

In his post, Trump stated, "I respect Jamie Dimon, of JPMorgan Chase (NYSE:JPM), greatly, but he will not be invited to be a part of the Trump Administration."

A source informed Reuters last week that Dimon plans to remain at JPMorgan and had no intentions of joining Trump's administration, despite earlier speculation regarding his candidacy for Treasury secretary in the lead-up to the November 5 election.

Trump, a Republican, won against Democratic Vice President Kamala Harris in the election. Dimon remarked last month that his chances of taking an official post were "almost nil."

As of now, Trump has yet to announce his Treasury secretary pick, although sources told Reuters that billionaire banker Howard Lutnick and investor Scott Bessent are the top contenders for the role.

Dimon, a prominent figure in corporate America, has led JPMorgan for nearly 19 years and, along with other members of the bank's operating committee, congratulated Trump and other elected officials in a memo to staff seen by Reuters last week.

Known for his outspoken views, Dimon frequently travels to Washington to engage with policymakers, discussing matters ranging from housing, U.S.-China relations, to the economy. He upheld his tradition this year by refraining from endorsing any presidential candidate.
