Netflix Leadership Changes
(Reuters) – Netflix (NASDAQ:NFLX) announced on Tuesday that Vice President of Global Public Policy Dean Garfield and Chief Communications Officer Rachel Whetstone are leaving the company.
Co-CEO Ted Sarandos is on the lookout for candidates for a newly created position, chief global affairs officer, responsible for overseeing public policy and communications.
A source familiar with the situation indicated that candidates for the new position have not yet been identified. The source also noted that Garfield lacks experience in communications, and Whetstone is not interested in the new role, which is leading to their expected departures.
Garfield joined Netflix in 2019 after serving as CEO of the Information Technology Industry Council and holding positions at the Motion Picture Association.
Whetstone has nearly 20 years of experience in communications and policy for major U.S. technology companies, including Alphabet's Google, Uber, and Meta Platforms' Facebook, and has been with Netflix since 2018.
