Boeing Workers Continue Strike

Boeing (NYSE: BA) workers who went on strike in September have voted against a tentative deal with the company, according to the planemaker’s largest union, indicating that a six-week strike will continue.

Workers in Washington rejected a proposed deal offering a 35% pay increase over four years, with approximately 64% voting against the agreement. The union had requested a 40% pay increase over three years.

A key issue was the company's refusal to reinstate a pension plan that was eliminated about a decade ago.

More than 30,000 Boeing workers have been striking in Washington since last month, seeking improved pay and benefits, marking the largest strike since 2008.

The ongoing strike has caused significant financial losses for Boeing, with the company reporting over $6 billion in losses for the September quarter due to strike-related issues.

An extended strike could complicate Boeing's situation further as the company faces increased regulatory scrutiny following an incident in which a door blew off an Alaskan Airlines flight earlier this year.
