Dogecoin Cofounder Addresses Bitcoin Speculation
In recent tweets, Dogecoin cofounder Billy Markus, known as "Shibetoshi Nakomoto" on X, addressed speculation about his involvement with Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies.
Markus stated that, aside from Dogecoin and an earlier project called "Bells," he has not been involved in creating or working on any other cryptocurrency. He emphasized that he has not worked on any cryptocurrency projects since 2014 and has no plans to do so in the future.
> "Anything claiming I am affiliated is lying," Markus asserted, putting to rest any speculation about his involvement with other blockchain initiatives.
The conversation took a humorous turn when X influencer Ian Miles Cheong jokingly remarked, "But you created Bitcoin." In response, Markus humorously replied, "Yes, and I created the internet and oxygen," showcasing the absurdity of the claims.
This exchange comes amidst various theories linking prominent figures in the cryptocurrency world to the enigmatic Satoshi Nakamoto, the pseudonymous creator of Bitcoin. The Dogecoin cofounder's humorous yet firm denial aims to clarify his position within the crypto community.
Dogecoin's Background
Dogecoin (DOGE) was created in 2013 as a lighthearted alternative to traditional cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin, which launched in 2009. Satoshi Nakamoto disappeared from the scene in 2011, making it unlikely that the Dogecoin founders were behind Bitcoin.
The Mystery of Satoshi Nakamoto
Despite ongoing investigations into Satoshi Nakamoto's identity, the Bitcoin creator remains a mystery with no confirmed real-world identity. Speculations suggest Satoshi could be a group rather than a single person, given the complex coding involved in developing Bitcoin.
To date, the true identity of Satoshi continues to elude discovery.
