U.Today – Bitcoin Core Update 28.0 Released

Nearly six months after the debut of Bitcoin Core 27.0, the BTC development team has launched the latest update of the protocol. Dubbed Bitcoin Core 28.0, this new iteration comes with several improvements and bug fixes for the Bitcoin mainnet.

Bitcoin Development Team Aims for More Security and Privacy

This week, the Bitcoin development team published notes highlighting updates designed to improve the program's functionality and security. Alongside enhanced security and other bug fixes, Bitcoin Core 28.0 introduces upgraded privacy features for users.

This update follows recent notifications about high-risk vulnerabilities and a software bug that affected one in every six Bitcoin nodes, making them susceptible to DoS attacks. Attackers could exploit this by overwhelming nodes with low-difficulty header chains.

Once the nodes exceeded their bandwidth by downloading long chains, potential crashes could occur. With Bitcoin Core 28.0 and its additional security enhancements, this issue has been addressed. Key to this version is support for reproducible builds, allowing advanced users to compile identical binaries available on the BTC Core official website, which enhances trust and transparency within the BTC community.

Bitcoin Price Sees Some Rally

The market outlook for BTC shifted on September 18, following the Federal Reserve's announcement of a 50-basis-point rate cut. The flagship cryptocurrency rose above $60,000 after hovering below this level for several days. Soon after, the coin dipped and began trading sideways.

Recently, Bitcoin approached $62,000 but has not seen significant upswing despite the release of U.S. job data. Currently, the coin is trading at $62,121.25, reflecting a 1.65% increase in 24 hours according to CoinMarketCap data.

Though not immediate, the Bitcoin Core update may influence overall performance as investors adjust their valuations accordingly.
